What is Audio Description ?

Audio Description (AD) is an additional audio narration track in Cinema,TV shows, live theatre, museums, walking talking tours. AD is now being used in many Video Games as well which is a huge step forward. In fact you can add audio description to so many parts of the world around us. PC's, iMacs, mobile phones all use a type of audio description to describe and assist navigation around the systems that they operate. AD is designed primarily for blind and visually impaired people. During gaps in the dialogue, a narrator describes what is happening visually in what ever type of event you are attending be it theatre, cinema ,tv or now a game you are playing.

AD is now beginning to be an industry standard in many media outlets but it still needs to be out there so it is available in all aspects of life to assist those with a visual impairment to bring full inclusive access as with their sighted peers.
